Linking Indy Women: Thankful for Shelter

Guest Speaker: Maria Larrison, CEO of Sheltering Wings

     Sheltering Wings provides emergency housing for women and children suffering from any form of domestic abuse. They build stable and independent lives through essential programs offered in a supportive and Christ-centered environment.

Maria Larrison will share her journey including being the Victim Assistance Coordinator for the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office for 11 years.  In that capacity, in 2001 she received the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Rights of Victims.  In April 2003, she was one of ten people selected by the U.S. Dept of Justice in Washington, DC to read her promise to victims of crime during Victims Rights Week.  In 2006 she received the Distinguished Service Award from Plainfield Police Dept.

In 2008, she accepted the position of CEO of Sheltering Wings and recently received the Torchbearer Award from the Indiana Commission for Women.
