Over 20 years ago, Kim wrote a professional mission statement identifying her desire “to help grow good businesses.” Today that passion plays out very directly as the leader of trueU, a new organization headquartered here in Indianapolis and launching out of DEFENDER. trueU is a partnership of companies that are committed to growing their business by growing their people. Launched this past February, trueU helps its member companies enhance their cultures by providing a framework of programs, tools, and resources that are focused on relationship-building, service to others, and personal leadership development.

 

Kim has over 30 years of diverse business experience including c-level leadership of start-up and growth companies and account management for some of the largest corporations in the world. Prior to trueU, she has led emerging Indiana-based companies primarily in the technology sector. Her “tours of duty” include serving as the CEO of Vontoo, President of OneBridge, President of Hufford Financial Advisors, CMO of Bluelock, and Interim CEO of NPower Indiana.

 

She came to Indiana as an out of state college graduate to work for Walker, where she spent the first 20 years of her career. She led client service teams, global marketing and sales, and new measurement efforts tied to corporate social responsibility and citizenship, business integrity, and corporate reputation.

 

Active in the community, Kim is particularly interested in helping children in poverty and mentoring other women in their careers. She has served as Program Chair and Emcee for the IWL Annual Women’s Leadership Conference. She has also been recognized for her groundbreaking leadership efforts to build an anti-bullying program before bullying captured the national spotlight.

 

She is proudest of her role as mom to her two children–Brent, an accountant at Katz, Sapper & Miller, and Brittany, a Business Development Representative with TinderBox. She is also crazy about her new grand-dog, Penny. Kim believes that life is an exciting adventure, even with its ups and downs, and that every day is truly a gift.
